Vocational Training Centre

The Vocational Training Centre encompasses an environment where people with disabilities are encouraged to learn important work skills and ethics. These surroundings should reflect community standards for gainful employment.

Trainees are presented with opportunities and supports to develop and/or enhance valuable working skills. Training is based on but not limited to:

  • Tool or equipment knowledge and operation, quality of workmanship, WHIMS training and first aid.
  • Learning to accept directional instructions and constructive criticism, identifying and reporting problems in the workplace.
  • Instruction about time records and payment, production work, respect for employer-employee relationships, and interpersonal skills with co-workers.

Contract work is procured to offer a variety of work experiences, resulting in a diversified training program. We offer vocation supports that assist people to learn skills at their current level, whatever that may be. Supports can range from one-to-one social isolation prevention to competitive employment, and are designed with the individual in mind.
